Our Review

We've been keeping an eye on Onyx AI since they emerged from their Danswer rebrand, and honestly, they're doing something pretty clever in the enterprise AI space. While everyone's rushing to build the next ChatGPT wrapper, Onyx took a different approach — they built an open-source enterprise search platform that actually connects to your existing tools.

What caught our attention isn't just another AI chatbot. It's how they've tackled the real problem most companies face: their data is scattered across 40+ different apps, and nobody can find anything.

The Open-Source Angle That Actually Works

Here's where Onyx gets interesting. Most enterprise AI tools are black boxes that make IT teams nervous. Onyx flipped that script by going fully open-source, which means companies can see exactly how their data gets processed.

We tested their GitHub repository, and it's surprisingly robust. The codebase is clean, well-documented, and actively maintained. For enterprises dealing with compliance issues or air-gapped environments, this transparency is huge.
